Eric earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre with a Concentration in Performance, which included training in various trades and art forms at DeSales University (the home of the annual Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival) and Elizabethtown College, this included but was not limited to artistic and musical direction, various artwork and woodcraft, set design, costuming, choreography, dancing, singing, stage and film acting, director of photography, directorship credit of a mainstage production, film editing, playwriting, screenplay writing, finance producer, project production, marketing, management which he has employed since his schooling. Eric recently completed his Art Therapy Certification and has added Art Therapy as one of the modalities that he can choose to incorporate into client based care towards growth and healing.
With support and encouragement from his parents and grandparents, at a very young age, Eric was educated in, explored various art forms spanning a wide birth of media and received awards for his early work. For his 12th birthday, his parents gifted him a masterclass lesson with one of Bob Ross's fellow classmates, see first oil on canvas displayed in gallery below. In adulthood, Eric has been inspired to seek out his own voice by the artwork and genius of his favorite modern day artist, Banksy, who uses art to inspire others contemplate what they may have less consciously accepted as a social norm and provoke them to think outside their typically accepted patterns of thought, emotions and behavior, even at times poking fun of the art industry itself with humor and shenanigans directed at the classism inherent in owning egregiously overpriced works of art by famous artists.
Eric completed a one on one Master Class with successful New York City artist, art curator, art teacher, social advocate and fellow Elizabethtown College alum, J.T. Liss. Eric was and remains passionate about using various media to open and inspire minds beyond the accepted boundaries of both art and society. J.T was able to mentor him in the realm of digital art to bring his craft up to speed in this medium with the cutting edge of art that modern technology offers us in photography, editing, production and post production.
J.T. Liss: "Eric is a passionate and empathetic artist with a lot of potential. During our time together he was able to take the photo editing programs I taught him and run with it. SInce then he has developed a unique style that aligns with his view of the universe around him. I'm excited to see what's next."
Eric is the Vice President and Secretary of the Resonant Arts Non-Profit Public Charity. He was asked by the founder, John Perkins, to be on the board and help support his vision for this organization which he gladly accepted. They are working to help teach the elderly how to utilize AI while also building art outreach and opportunities for expression to local artists throughout the year.
Separately, Eric was selected to be one of three main feature artists at a monthly pop-up art gallery showcase at Writer's Ink this past spring. He was hand picked from a fellow artist and educator who saw his work online who is working with a different non-profit group, she is affiliated with. See below what we wound up creating! I hope it inspires you to create more as well!
I challenged myself to use all different kinds of media from digital, to metal, to word work, to paints (acrylic, oil, watercolor), to crayons, to chalk, to engraving stone, sculpting clay and modeling paste. I also challenged myself to use as few as possible traditional shapes and canvases. I achieved my envisioned pieces while being able to adhere to my challenge restrictions which stretched me to and beyond my limits.

The overarching theme of my individual artwork showcased was inspiring human evolution and personal transformation from darkness to light transmuting suffering, loss and grief into growth, beauty and love.

Multimedia work: Wood carving, Glass sculpting, Acrylic paints, spray paints, Kintsugi glue paint, natural (colored moss) and machine made pieces

Writers, Ink is a local gallery located in Liberty Station amidst other galleries. Unlike the surrounding galleries, they host various events, educational and community building. On each first Friday of the month, they host new feature artists writing work and art work. We were just lucky enough to have both our written word turned into spoken word before we got to reveal our works of visual art throughout the studio gallery.

I wanted my pieces to challenge the viewer to look deeper than what initially meets the eye. As you can see from the still image of this piece in the video above, it required you to charge up the work to get the words to reveal themselves in glow light and then still it required you to use your mind and eyes together to make sense of what you perceived based on the context of the pieces front and back.

We provided light fare and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to imbibe in while perusing the gallery floor and walls. Check out the insta clip medley videos below of when our DJ friend was able to kick it all off in full effect.

Custom wood carved pieces using brush, drip and flick painting techniques with high flow and fluid acrylic paints. These paint were not glow in the dark but the colors I was attracted to were vibrant and highly reflective in the UV light. See below for the Gallery After Dark viewing of the works.

Digital art piece started with using several AI art programs and finished with a manual art editing program by yours truly to merge all of the final chosen images into the final product which captured the initial vision of the piece.

Digital art generated by me with only one image creator and edited by me in Pixlr editing program for canvas print. Custom built the frame from wood pieces I also burnt in the fire for the charcoal effect.

Multimedia piece: gel mold sculpture with glitter paints, drip painted pieces, glow in the dark paints, spray paints, modeling paste, stencils, stickers, feathers, flowers on canvas and wood carved pieces

Carved/Etched slate with various Dremel tools

Interactive piece: Etched slate, invisible/ glow in the dark paints, spray paints, acrylic brush paints and paint markers
This piece had a black light flashlight nearby hidden in the microphone stand that blended in. On the podium read a clue that said, there is more than meets the eye if you choose to look hard enough if you read between the lines.

Other pieces had UV flashlights to interact with the pieces also. This sculpting piece was made with glow in the dark paints and glow in the dark glitter.
Beecome had finally Became what I wanted it to bee but then parts had to bee taken apart, transported precariously to the gallery and put back together again!

The artists all were invited to start off the occasion with their introduction and then poetry. So I got to read some selected sections of my Epic poem I wrote years ago entitled "Complaints of Societal Constraints"

A glance at the seating during Poetry Performances before chairs are cleared and art gallery dance party breaks out
Had to clear the room of all the seats to kick the DJ floor space open after the poetry readings and initial artist intros. You can see here my friend and client Chris's work also on display in one of the photos below. I also wanted to raise up my client's artistry to give their work a platform also. She also collaborated with me on the Unbecome Who You Never Were metal art piece in the next picture over to the right using her trained relationship with her AI bot program.

I was really pleased with the attendance of the Showcase Opening night with friends, family, fans of each artist. A DJ friend who kept the place bumpin' drew art viewers from other galleries into ours as well. Friends new and old came throughout the month to visit the gallery as I used it to work on new art pieces while keeping the gallery open for visitors.
Jennica was able to figure this one out with a little help from Soleiman. They still make a great team!

John was able to figure out the first two including the Find Your Flow piece on the left and then graduated on to the hardest puzzle of them all. I wanted to make some of the art interactive to make it more enjoyable for people to be able to touch like a Please Touch Museum as opposed to a sterile gallery experience.

This is John trying to figure out one of the hardest visual puzzles "Follow The Light" on another slate and canvas back to back combo piece. He had to break out his trusty think pad he uses in our Dungeons and Dragons game to work out the code on this side of my piece that no one else was able to crack yet.

Here is John's codex trying to figure out the "lost" symbols. He did not figure it out in the end which made me realize I needed to make it easier because if John can't figure it out then pretty much no one can, and that's just less fun :) This piece was intentionally unfinished on this side for this reason. I had just marked it out in chalk to see if people could work it out before I etched it in the slate stone permanently. But I figured out the way to improve the puzzle presentation for viewers.

Had Amira work with me on the hand sculpture aspect of this piece trying to bring others creative side out. In the process of this journey I was also taking a course on becoming certified as an art therapist which I have since completed! Come join me for an art therapy session as a new modality offering to explore what art can bring to life or heal for you!

Amira helped take photos for the evening while I was coproducing and cohosting the event on opening night. Nazzlani created some nice video clips put together for insta that you can check out below. Thank you to all who came out and supported this dope event in all the different ways, it was quite a sucess!
